Hi all.

I'd really like to subscribe to an optometry journal to see what's new and changing in optometry, any suggestions for good ones?

If you want to read about 14 different ways of measuring dissociated phorias, read the Journal of the AOA.

If you want to read about color vision processing in the V2 cortex of the macaque monkey, read the journal of the AAO.

If you want to read about the latest treatments for dry eye and allergic conjunctivitis month after month after month, read Review of Optometry.

If you want to read about how to take autistic kids with cerebral palsy who are struggling in school and make them straight A students on the Harvard track by hopping up and down on one foot while swinging at a ball dangling from the ceiling, read the COVD journal.

Wow, really? I'd expect more from you, KHE.

The optometrist in the office I work in subscribes to Review of Optometry, so I read hers when she's done with it. Some of it is pretty deep stuff, but I can follow most of it. Funny, there is a lot of dry eye treatment stuff, haha.

You probably won't want to subscribe to any of these journals, as they are quite pricey (Review is $56 per year) which is why I just read my Dr's.

Honestly speaking..It is good that you are interested in the material, however, it might be really hard to follow and most of it might sound like a new language to you since you have not started opt school yet. Don't waste the money right now, use the money for applications and what not. Once you get into schools, some offer you free subscriptions.

If the poster is enrolled in a college or university, almost all of them will offer you free electronic access to journals, including optometric journals.
