I'll go in new york for holiday,and i need an address of any optometry library, or library where i can buy somethings books who treats contact lenses,visual training,orto-k,oep ecc.

Hi Andrea,

Are you looking for a bookstore (where you can buy books) or a library (where you can only look at them)?

There are no optometry-only bookstores in NYC (at SUNY we do not have our own bookstore), but there are a couple medical bookstores I know of that carry optometry/ophthalmology textbooks:

There is a Barnes and Noble (it is a big chain) that has a health sciences section with textbooks near Union Square, but I can't find the exact address online.

i thought the profession was a little different in europe, can you describe it briefly? i would love to live in europe for a few years later on and am just wondering how this would work..

SUNY optomtery school is located in NYC, you may be able to get visitor's access to use their library.

hello idoc2b,

the working situation that is approached of yours in europe is that Anglo-Saxon. In Italy the not recognized from the law, but tolerated. In order to become Optometrista there is an university course, unfortunately being a not law clear situation there are private schools with payment become opometrist also in 1 year(sic). The optometrist in Italy works near optical and optometry storees and , like holder or dependent, in one study just or companies of the field. Do not to work in hospital. From many years we fight for having an acknowledgment, but the association of the oftalmology gives to us against always. However if you know to work, Italy is beautifulst and the american optometrist are conisders with respect.
The italy situation is similar in french and germany in spain is better.
