- Pre-Optometry
I am a pre-optometry student and have just finished up my OptomCAS application. I am trying to decide which optometry schools I should designate to send my application to. I am from the midwest and I would love to stay around the area if at all possible. I am worried about my GPA and OAT scores, and that is why I am thinking about sending applications to other schools. My top three choices are Ohio State, Indiana, and Illinois College of Optometry. I am also applying to Michigan College of Optometry, UMSL, NOVA, PCO, AZCOPT, and NECO.
Here is my dilemma/questions:
1. I have noticed that all of the schools want to know which other schools you are applying to. Does applying to 9 schools hurt my chances? Do they look down on that?
2. How difficult is it to get into Ohio State or Indiana? I have a mediocre (at best) GPA and I am taking the OAT again in Nov. (I received a 290 the first time, and I truly did not prepare well enough).
Any other advice is greatly appreciated.
