optometry?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
for a couple months i considered this because my suitemate was pre-optometry and my undergrad school has a good optometry program. I ended up deciding against this after a few shadowing experiences in the summer. I did not find the actual day-to-day job that interesting. However, 80k for 40 hrs a week isn't bad, but I am not sure with this all taken together if it is worth the 4 extra years of school.

If I wanted to deal with the eyes, I would rather be an opthamologist and be able to do everything and get paid about 5-7x what an optometrist gets paid for 3 more years of training. 🙂 ...but i don't think i am interested in limiting my scope to just eyes....
