Let's say you finish a case, and you write your differential, and it doesn't fit in the exact order that they expect you. For ex:

If I put for a case, a guy has
1) BPH
2) Bladder Cancer
3) Nephrolithasis

as my three differentials, but they want:

1) Bladder Cancer
2) BPH
3) Prostate Cancer

as their answer, is this gonna screw me over? In this case, I put as my "most likely" a diagnosis different from what they would want. And I listed a differential that could be possible, but not a "top 3" choice.

Seems silly of a question...but CS is too expensive to take twice 🙁

i don't know anything about the CS.....but common sense says...No.

the old format for CS had prep books indiate if you put the most likely diagnosis in the first slot, you get extra credit

Dont know if that will carry over into the new format, but it seems plausible

I likely ideal to have ddx's in order of possibility, but in a timed, kind of stressful situation, along with cases you might not have any idea about, that can be hard. Between practice and the real thing, I was probably off a lot in the order, except in really easy cases. It seems that your reasoning for reaching your diagnoses will be more important than the order for the new CS (which findings in the H&P support your ddx's, etc from what I've read about the changes). I think the full practice cases in First Aid will help with that, more than the mini-cases. Good luck! 🙂
