Organic part of the Destroyer is destroying me.... instead of helping me out in destroying DAT. I went through Chad's lectures and the note, but did not memorized given reactions fully. (Too many reactions to memorize, but I am on my way...)

When I go over the organic question from destroyer, I get 15/30. And, I am realizing I am getting wrong on reaction problems...

So my question is how did you guys studied orgo section(especially reaction problems)? did you memorized the roadmaps of the destroyer first? and then did the questions? I am memorizing the reactions right now... I guess it's better choice than being depress by unable to do reaction problem...

Any tips on studying for orgo?

First time I went through destroyer GC (got 45% right) and only 55% right on orgo.

Its totally normal to get demolished by destroyer on the first attempt. When you go through it a 2nd and 3rd time, you'll see a drastic jump in your score. My 2nd time around, I was getting 80%+ correct on both chemistries

You must study and know all the reactions first before you attempt to do the roadmap problems. Destroyer was designed for people who took both organic 1 and 2. YOu need to know all reactions.

-destroyer is not organized so that you can just take 30 questions and assume it represents the orgo section on the DAT.
-destroyer is significantly more difficult than the DAT BUT if you learn to solve the questions, you will undoubtedly do very well on the DAT.
-use it as a learning tool not to just test yourself.
-make sure you STUDY the solutions because every solution contains important facts necessary for the DAT.

I am still memorizing, but after I read Dentalwork's reply, I decided to a ahead and start the problems.
Thanks again🙂

Wait, I don't think I made myself clear. I was scoring horribly first pass through destroyer AFTER my review period was done (I used KBB for both chemistries, you are using chads instead right?).... Finish up all your chads then hit destroyer.

Yeap, I finished his lecture and the quizes, but I find my-self having hard time with destroyer~ 😡😡😡 hopefully this won't be my situation after 10 days.🙂

I'm on the same boat 🙂 Struggling with destroyer, and almost finished with Chad's videos. But the key here is to practice.... practice, practice, practice. Look at Destroyer as a learning textbook. After doing problems, check what you did wrong, why, etc... If it still doesn't make sense, go back to Chad's videos that covers that section and watching it in fastplay 🙂 Good luck!
