I have tried finding similar threads but there don't seem to be that many out there. I got a B+ in orgo lecture and a B in orgo lab (both classes median grades were B) at cornell. I am probably headed for a 3.8-3.85 GPA by the time I need to apply to med school. I have another semester of orgo and I am just wondering did I slash any hope of getting into the "top 20" med schools with those orgo grades. In the context of pretty good GPA overall, how heavily are the orgo grades scrutinized. Thanks.

I guess to be more precise I am wondering if it would be an automatic disqualifier? B?? Screw this guy!

Definitely not. If you got a B- or C+ they might ask you about it in your interview, but I think you're fine. Of course, I'm not an adcom or anything. But that would be ridic.

1. That makes me feel somewhat better. I've worked pretty hard and thats paid off in every class except orgo.

2. Game of Thrones is awesome.

🙄

I got a B+ in organic 2nd term, and a B+ in organic lab first term.

You'll be fine. People have a lot worse and still get in. Just keep up the good work!👍

No. Try and do better next semester, it will only help.

I got a B- in orgo and got into a top 20. A 3.8-3.85 is an excellent GPA! 🙂 Adcoms know that orgo is difficult, and a couple B's in science classes will not keep you out of the running. No worries.

Okay, enough about GPA and chances people. I know GPA is great but plenty of people get into medical schools with lower than average GPA's. OP you are complaining about a freaking 3.85 GPA??? Like what kind of joke is this.....

Nobody yet has told this guy that he's gonna have to go to the Caribbean? For shame! 😀
