How is I considered a chiral center? It's attached to a Cl, 2 hydrogens, & then the rest of the molecule.

& if this is, in fact a chiral center, how?

You have been trapped. Compound I is indeed chiral......the second carbon is chiral !!!! Many students miss this. Once you land a chlorine atom on a carbon.....check the ENTIRE molecule to see if chirality was generated. Hope this helps.....keep up the hard work !
