I have a ? for those D.O's who have matched in gas. I am interested in many programs, some of which include the pgy1 year in a 4 year program. From my understanding, doing an intern year at an allopathic institution can exclude you from practicing in a state like florida.
Are there any d.o.'s here who are doing a 4 year inclusive program, found an avenue to bypass an aoa approved internship, and plan on practicing in florida (or the other few states that have this parameter). Any info/advice on this issue would be helpful. THanks.

you might want to try a search of the DO forum, i think it has been discussed. Basically, there are certain criteria that have to be in th rotating internship - if your allopathic cby in your 4 year program meets those criteria you can apply to the AOA to have it count. An AOA rep spoke at our school two years ago and said that most people who applied to have their cby approved were successful. I have, however, heard different things through the rumor mill. There is a website that lists the criteria, but I can't remember it - it is probably in the one of the DO forum threads. I'm not too worried about it because I am not planning on practicing in any of the 5 states that require it, but I probably will try to get my cby AOA approved - couldn't hurt right?
