Admittedly, I am not that knowledgeable about matching, residencies, or fellowships. Also I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but here goes.

I vaguely recall reading/hearing somewhere that if a DO completes an osteopathic residency, then the only fellowships open to them are osteopathic fellowships. So as an example, I matched into an osteopathic pediatrics residency and wanted to complete a pediatric cardiology fellowship, would my options be more limited than if I participated in the allopathic match?

Thanks in advance, and if this has been discussed before please post the link to an older thread (I couldn't find one).

I would personally call fellowship programs you're interested in and ask what their requirements are, if they haven't already posted them on their websites.

Although this doesn't apply for peds, some specialites which require a prelim/TY, require that you complete that year at an ACGME-approved program (not AOA only).
