Hey, guys, not trying to start any arguments or disparage DOs in any way. As far i'm concerned DOs and MDs are equivalent. However, i'm curious about DO anesthesiologists who either CHOOSE/CHOSE (as a *mediocre* anesthesiologist i know claims to have done) NOT to take the ABA boards or were unable to pass them. Are they considered "board-certified" if they have passed the osteopathic boards only? Does this fulfill most hospitals' requirement that a physician be board-certified? What about among anesthesia groups looking to hire a "board-certified" anesthesiologist - do they care whether one is ABA vs AOA?
