I was wondering if osteopathy is considered as alternative medicine. As I want to mention it in my personal statement..

OMT could be considered alternative given that MD's don't learn it. So, in the strictest sense of the word, I guess it would be. However, I'd be very careful how you phrase it, and I personally would not.

What would be better though, would be to talk about your interests in OMT, and why you like it so much. But, I'd hesitate in calling it "alternative" because that could be taken the wrong way too easily.

Dude, you are posting on a osteopathic thread. if you want to go D.O., do it, if not go MD. don't BS the Ad comm just to get a spot. Be honest with them and yourself-----

Yes.

Pharmacology & surgery is mainstream medicine.

Osteopathic manipulation is an "alternative" to these modalities.

Being that a minority of physicians are qualified to practice OMM, you must define this as an alternative medical practice.

Your comment is both not relevant and inflammatory. Please refrain from such comments in the future.

If you are interested in practicing OMM would you consider it to be an alternative to conventional medicine and/or an Osteopathic modality of treatment? What unique skills do Osteopath's bring to the table? Answer these questions then write. My two cents... peace-B
