Hello! I think I may choose OSU for the fall of 2008, and I was wondering how big class size is. I read that the number of incoming freshmen is around 150. Do current students find this too large? Are professors available enough for extra help? What's your opinion on it?

Thanks!

First of all - I'm assuming you're talking about Ohio and not Oregon.

We currently have 141 in our class (started out with 143, we've lost two due to family/health reasons but I've heard they're going to try to return next year). I don't have a problem with the class size - I've met with several professors outside of class, and they all have been very willing and accessible to answer questions. One of my histology professors was especially helpful to me personally - my cat (pictured at left!) has lymphoma, and he was the one who read the histopath 5 1/2 years ago. I talked to him about it, and he actually went to the lab (which is not on campus!), got the slide, and went over it with me on a Saturday. I think he was as excited about it as I was! Very cool. Of course, some of them are more willing to help you than others, but in general, everyone wants you to succeed. 🙂

I think our large class size is one of the best features of Ohio State. Lots of people to chose friends/study-buddies from. I would echo what's been said about profs being accessible. Email or office, they are always willing to help.

Which OSU? TOSU? OkSU? Or the REAL OSU?

(tongue in cheek, but Oregon State was actually founded first)

I love OrSU
