What OT schools in the southeast are the most active when it comes to researching new therapy methods and designing new therapy materials and techniques? Should what type of research the faculty is doing be an important part of deciding which OT school to attend? It seems like the last school I visited mainly taught "textbook" methods, rather than being involved in anything new or innovative. Since I haven't visited many schools yet, I was wondering if this is the case with most OT schools and if there are some schools that are really well known for their research and innovations.

i am also interested in research. i've been looking at some of the programs and it looks like a lot of the "big research universities" are the ones that state they place emphasis or offer opportunities in research. i.e. wash u in st. louis, UNC, etc. makes sense to me. i also noticed university of puget sound offers an official research track. it also seems like schools that have an OTD track would most likely have research possibilities, since OTD's do a lot of research (from what i've gathered).

anyone else have any input?

That makes sense! I'm thinking about applying to some of the programs that have OTD tracks such as Washington University. That's interesting that Puget Sound has a research track as well. That would be perfect if they were a bit closer to my area of the country.
