I'm procrastinating, so I'd thought I'd start a fun thread.

What's your favorite animal??

Mine's a toss-up between the giant panda and the dolphin (any species!) 😉 I have to admit, I'm a sucker for the charismatic megafauna!

Oh, procrastination, how I love it.

Can I say them all? It's so hard to pick and mine changes all the time!
BUT if I had to pick right now it's between rhinos and cows!

Cheetah

Still remember doing my grade 4 social science project on it 🙂. I printed out a strip of freeze frames of a cheetah in full sprint and still have that in my bedroom actually.

What a question!

Hmm...I've literally been sitting here for ten minutes trying to narrow it down.

I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to even a class (bird, mammal, reptile...) level, let alone a species.

Heck, there's even a few invertebrates that are contenders(have you ever seen a video of cone shell hunting?)

No, this is going to take some sleep.

<-------sloths! Among a ton of others.

I PMed you about this but maybe you didn't get it - is your profile pic from Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica? If so, do you know how I can get in touch with them about volunteering?

I emailed twice with no luck. Thanks!

Fav critter: flying foxes 🙂

Holy moley. That's hard.
I'm a big fan of okapis and moose. Love tigers too.

DVMdream...this is driving me insane and it's so weird, but what was your avatar before?!?!

Lol...this is really sad, but I had to acutally go look around to see what it was before because I though I had changed it before I changed it to Toothless, but it turns out I hadn't. Anyway, it was a picture of a kitten in a shopping bag.

Always been a huge fan of ants. They fascinate me now and always have since when I was a kid. They're so versatile, there's so many varieties and they can survive in so many different fashions. They're outstanding.

Best. answer. ever.

That's an original one, for sure!

I think I'd have to say Pigeons. There is just something so indescribably cute about them, and they always make me smile.😍

I also like iguanas, giraffes, dogs and chinchillas. But pigeons are my #1, especially fat ones.

Foxes!! Both beautiful and intelligent. plus, they are actually found where I live so it's possible to see them in the wild without traveling thousands of miles.

Guess. Lol.

Chapelle, the sloth sanctuary is one of the places I really hope we get to visit during the SDN VIDA volunteer trip this August!

I haven't been to the sanctuary, but I saw a sloth in the wild in Costa Rica. It looked sooo different from what you see in the zoo. It was totally green with algae, but still incredibly cute. Every time I go to the Vancouver Aquarium, I have to find all the sloths in the Amazon gallery. They have 3. I also love their sea otters and baby belugas.

I have always liked Black Bears.....

Cheetahs for me. I heard about them in second grade and fell in LOOOVE with big cats, but cheetahs specifically. Their long bodies, the black markings on their faces, the little white bit on their tail, their grace....LOVE IT.

Apparently I'm the only non-exotic person here but mine always has and always will be horses! I love everything about my fragile, goofy, athletic ponies even if they are prone to the dramatics some times (No, really that tiny 1 cm scrape is NOT worth acting three legged lame over. I promise).

Yeah, we have foxes at my house, too. Ask my chickens and ducks how I know... 🙁

My favorite: Pigs. Cause Pigs Rock!

No way in h*** can I answer this question.

In my backyard, my favorite creatures are the moose and the fox. Although the fisher is a cool little bugger too...i'f only he'd leave the neighborhood cats alone.

In the ocean, dolphins and seals. In the rivers, beavers are awesome.

Domestically speaking (and wildly, I guess) horses are amazing and beautiful and majestic.

And pandas and polar bears and panthers, oh my!

In the Wild, My favorite animal would have to be Owls. They are simply magnificent.
In my house, Dogs - specifically Schnauzers.

Cheetahs here too... mostly from watching a ton of BBC shows about them and the struggles they go through. and they're insanely fast.

i like everything though (except bats and insects), which is why idk wtf i'm gonna specialize in or do post-school, i've changed my mind at least three times already and i'm not even there yet! wish i could do everything

I love ducks. There is just something incredibly awkward and beautiful and funny and endearing about them. I used to have six of them that I kept as pets, and it was so much fun to watch and listen to them. I love to watch them in the wild too, they really are beautiful birds.

And horses of course, but I think that's kind of implied by my username.

I love sloths toooo!!! I also like sea turtles a lot 🙂

Foxes are cute too. We have them around here, unfortunately they are also the ones spreading rabies along with the raccoons. There was even a rabid bobcat that walked into a bar close to here and bit a couple of people. So, foxes cute; rabies....:scared:

Lessee...I've got tons. Orcas and belugas are my favorites, along with dolphins. For the longest time I wanted to be a marine mammal trainer. (Basically I'd love to work with any animal at Seaworld).

I like wolves, too. And horses, though I don't own any. Uhh...hmm. I think that covers it. All marine mammals (or most) and wolves and horses. Yup.

I would have to say otters. They are freakin awesome. Who doesn't love their crazy antics..?

Love them all as well, forgot to mention salamanders. Not sure why, but I wanted to study them at one time. All wild cats are amazing too. Can't forget greyhounds!

Pufferfish!

Hippopotami

Octopi

rabbits and st bernards

By Sea: sea turtles 🙂

By Land: Big cats 🙂

By Air: Peregrine falcons 🙂

Great and wild cats, especially lions. Raptors. Humpback whales... Of dog breeds--German shepherd. I 😍 them. Siberian huskies, too, though their escapism tendencies get old.

Ahh, too many! I do love tigers, secretary birds, and octopodes, especially, going by the earth-air-sea categories. 🙂

Axolotls, because they have so many features! Regeneration, gills and lungs, swimming tail, legs, vacuum suction feeding, power windows, 15-year drivetrain warranty...

Just keep them away from the salamander goo!

Those things are awesome! If they could work together in huge colonies, grow their own food, and pick up things 100x their own weight, they'd bump ants off of number 1 on my list.

Also, we'd be in a lot of trouble.

i have to admit they are pretty fascinating... the way they have different designated jobs and the ones that farm/grow fungus? (saw that on Life) very interesting

(referring to ants)

RHINOS!

They're just like me. Short, stumpy-legged, almost blind, and they anger very easily. We're kindred spirits.

Wow, I am learning so much here! You made me look up tiktaaliks and axolotls. And I thought I was wasting my time... 🙄

 This is the funniest thing I've seen on here in a while... At least you're honest with yourself!

Procrastination at it's best:

My favorite animal for a long time has been the Snow Leopard. The most beautiful creatures ever.
I also have to mention my chinchillas as a close second!

Bunnies!!

Haha so true! I mean about the rhinos - that describes them perfectly!

I will have to agree with you on this. Insects are fascinating! Do you by chance like termites? Now those little guys are incredible. I read a book called "The soul of the white ant" the Author compares human physiology with how termites function (ie: queen = brain, workers = blood cells). It was a good read.

and the itty bitty ones can even survive microwaves! (i swear i don't know this because i love torturing little critters or anything. it was totally incidental during an awful ant infestation in CA). i guess it must be because they're smaller than the holes in the shielding net on the microwaves.

Bunnies!!

Another one for bunnies! 😍 My second favorite would be dogs, pit bulls especially. Sadly my second favorite has a tendency to want to eat my first favorite, so I have a bunny only house right now.
