If anyone knows the formula OU uses to determine which applicants are interviewed in the first round, second round, etc., this would be very helpful. Thanks in advance! 🙂

I believe it's: ((3.75 x GPA) + MCAT score)/2. If this number is greater than 11.20 then you'll get into the first round of interviews. The MCAT score is the average not the total.

Really? divided by 2? It sounds more competitive if it's divided by 3, otherwise you could have a 2.0 average and a 24 MCAT, and still get a first round interview?

What exactly does OU stand for?

College Football at its absolute best

Sooners vs Trojans. Can't wait!

Sooners = University of Oklahoma ( "OU")

Wow...is it true that such a formula exist?

Well, that is insane!

Based on who was in the first round last year, that formula sounds pretty much right on. I don't know of anybody who was in the first round with less than a 32 on the MCAT. And yes, OU is very driven by numbers.

The MCAT score is the average score. So a 24 would be considered an 8. It's based on the 1-15 scale not the 1-45.

Do you mean no one on the 1st day of interviews had less than a 32 cause 1st round interviews I thought were mainly during the month of Dec. When is the timeline for the rounds (is 1st week interview considered 1st round only, is Jan. interview considered 2nd round, etc.)?

The interview dates for OU are: Nov. 30, Dec. 1 & 2, 2004; Jan. 12 & 13, 2005; Jan. 19 & 20, 2005; Feb. 8,9 & 10, 2005.

dang. i thought OU would have more interview dates, thats kinda worrisome. so if you have an 11.2 or higher than you'll be in the Nov. 30-Dec. 2nd interview days? Where did you get those dates from by the way.

Thanks.

I got these from Dodie Sharp, who works at the Med School.

I got the formula from another OU Med School thread.

3.75 x 2.0 = 7.5
24/3= 8 MCAT Avg

8+7.5=15.5

15.5/2 = 7.75 = way below 11.20

Thanks for clarifying about the average part MechE!!

No, you can't? If you had a 2.0, you would need a 45 to get an interview..check your math?

I used the formula ((3.75*2)+24)/2

So yes, by THAT equation, there was nothing wrong with my math.

However, thanksfully MechE clarified that "MCAT score" meant average over each section, not total.

So it makes more sense now.
😀

So OU doesn't computer science GPA into their first screening? nteresting
