NOT following my instincts is usually what's gotten me into trouble.

Has following your instincts so far in life led you into the right path?

I never follow my instincts. My life sucks.

The only viable instinct we have as humans, regretably, is hindsight...and at that, very few of us use it.

Since we have no instinct whatsoever, our ability to sense the right choice is only ever a function of knowledge--which in itself is a function of time and experience. Since the path of time and experience, and ultimately knowledge, is marked far more by mistakes than by triumphs, it is easy to see why most of us do indeed wind up in front of pizza parlors, donut shops, and bars.

two skunks were lost in the forest. one said, "my instints tell me to go north." the other said, "my instints, too, but it doesn't tell me anything."

hahahaha, my instincts tell me that i'll end up at a school, but one that i dont really want to be at...........

without a doubt they've led me to where i am now. the real question is where do we get our instincts from?

i agree completely. although not necessarily about hindsight, but that is neither here nor there...
instinct is what we label a feeling when we don't or can't recognize the experiences that contribute to it. when we get a gut feeling, when something feels right (or not right, for that matter), we just can't put our finger on what it is that makes us feel that way. it certainly should not be ignored; obviously your experiences are personal and you know the way you feel best of all. the value in finding the causes of these feelings is in increasing your ability for you to trust the way you feel.
for instance, if you get a good feeling after an interview because your tour guide was attractive, it might be best to realize this before you act on your gut feeling...
just my opinion.
