Hey everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone got into a out-of-state school and what were your stats. the only reason why i ask is bc im debating whether i should apply to cali schools this year.

here are my stats:
gpa overall 3.7
math/bio 3.9
3 and 1/2 years of pharmacy experience as a senior certified pharmacy tech at walgreens =)

THANKS AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL 😉:luck:

I don't know much about cali schools, but I did get accepted to an out-of-state school that traditionally accepts only 10% of each class from out-of-state. My stats/experience were similar to yours. Do a search on california schools b/c there are a ton of people on this forum that live/go to school out there.

You should definitely apply to CA schools if that's where you want to go. Your gpa is stellar and you can speak knowledgably about the pharmacy profession since you've worked as a tech . . . all pluses. I don't know about all the other CA schools but I know UCSF doesn't care if you're in state or out of state. They have a mostly in-state class simply due to the nature of who applies - mostly CA residents but I remember calling them about it and they told me it's not a factor in the applications process at all so you should definitely just call the schools you're interested in and apply if it's a non-issue.

Good luck!

thanks ... the reason why i ask is because yeah of course im going to apply to my state schools, which is florida, but i want to apply to others places just case, you know...keeping my options open. i say cali because i have family that live there and also in nevada. BUT i REALLY want to go to NOVA.

WELL THANKS AGAIN good everyone

I applied only to my home state schools the first two years. I was rejected, but interviewed, at all of them. This year, I again applied to all Pharmacy Schools in my home state, plus about a dozen out of state schools. Again, I interviewed at all of the schools in my home state (3rd year in a row)...and again I was rejected at all of them. However, of the dozen or so out of state schools I applied to, I was accepted to 2 of them. My first time applying there.

My stats:

GPA: 3.8
PCAT: 86% ile composite
Previous degree in a healthcare field
Pharmacy Tech experience

I suggest you apply everywhere. I wanted to stay in my home state, but now, I wish I had applied to out of state schools those first two years. I was very impressed by the class that Ole Miss showed. A class act all the way IMO.
