Hey everyone

Just wanted to know if any US students heard from OVC. I know there is a Canadian student thread about OVC but I wanted to start something for the international applicants.

Interview notifications sometime in Jan (too late!) or Feb according to the letter from the dean.

Im a US student and I also applied to Guelph..havent heard anything yet!

*bump*

anything?

Regardless, I think I may be "disqualified" because I didn't finish my biochem yet. We'll see..

I received a call from Deanna Lundmark today with OVC admissions. She said the first phase of application reviews are completed and now the admissions committee will begin reviewing for the next phase over the next few days. Interview invites should be sent out soon via your Guelph email! 🙂 Good luck, y'all!! :luck:

Hey..

any word?

@Dr. Frekels... I didn't get a phone call, should I be worried?😕

@IHeartGoldens- I never received a call either. I'm wondering what is taking them so long?

As long as they've confirmed the receipt of your application and associated materials, I am sure you are fine 🙂 Do you check your Guelph accounts often? They really haven't updated them recently, but it should show that your app is under review and that all documents/fees were received.

Check your accounts on these two websites, unless you already have:

https://webadvisor.uoguelph.ca/WebA...r?&TYPE=M&PID=CORE-WBMAIN&TOKENIDX=1797037064

https://zcs1.mail.uoguelph.ca/zimbra/?client=preferred&loginOp=logout

If you really are concerned, just call up Deanna Lundmark (Admission Services) at 519-824-4120 Ext. 56060.

I am not sure when we should hear from them about acceptances/rejections. All Deanna told me that day was that the committee was just receiving our apps and reviewing them.

:luck: Best of luck!

hm.. I have been checking.
I know they have my app (I spoke with them a month ago) but my status says "application received".
No emails

hmmm

Yah, my status on the Guelph website hasn't changed since 10/22/09. Does anyone know people who applied before? If so, what was their timeline like? For instance, when and how did they receive notice of acceptance or rejection?

I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from the OVC admissions; none of the other schools I applied to gave me updates on my application. If anyone hears anything, please post it 😍

I haven't heard anything, either. I'm kind of getting worried. I do know that Canadian applicants have their interviews in May, so does that mean for international students, our interviews might be later?

:biglove: Yay!! 😀 I just received my interview invitation today through my e-mail!!! Yee-haw, baby!:soexcited:

Congrats Dr. Frekels on your interview invite!!!! I would like to go UPEI AVC and then go to Guelph and do the Doctor of Veterinary Science program. This is my dream anyway (one of my glorious and many dreams.....still have my fingers crossed for AVC!!)

Yay!! Congrats DrFrekels!! Nothing here...has your status changed at all?

😍 Thanks guys! I don't know what time of day yet, but I do know it is set for March 30th! Does anyone know details about the interview process at the OVC? I know it's open file. What about the amount of US students that get accepted?

Cattycat- I just checked my status page, and it hasn't changed. It still says "application received" and "last updated 10/22/09".

I'm on my way to Ontario! Currently sitting in the Phoenix Airport. 😀 Are there any US students that have interviewed already? Does anyone know what to expect for US students? I know I'm being interviewed by two people for 30 minutes, but that's about it. Super nervous! Wish me luck! :luck: :xf:

I got an invitation for an interview, but they notified me 6 days before my interview day. Since I live in Austin, the price for the ticket on such short notice was at least 1,000 dollars. D: Plus my parents were not as willing to spend more money after all my other interviews... :[ So I had to decline their invitation.

I wish they would've notified me a week earlier. It would've made it a lot easier for me to figure out transportation.

I know what you mean, interviews are expensive! 😱 Well, I am here in Ontario and it is beautiful! I would love to go to this school. I will see the facilities tomorrow and meet some people. I'll let you know how that goes. 🙂

When did they send your invitation?

The OVC is amazing in so many ways. 😍
This school is a perfect fit for me. I wish I didn't love it so much because waiting for the acceptance letter is going to keep up up every night for the next two weeks! :scared:
I went to see the Niagara Falls yesterday after my interview. I am glad I did, it was beautiful! Life is truly about the journey (I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true). Take in all the experiences you can while you have the chance, ya know? 🙂
I leave today, but I think I'll stop by and see the Space Needle first. Currently it is 443am here. I can't sleep because I have OVC on the mind. Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of getting accepted? Any and all advice is welcome!

Lol, you mean the CN tower? Torontonians would not appreciate being confused with Seattle!

LOL.. I just figured that out as I was getting directions. I was misinformed by someone I sat next to on the plane. He said he lived in Toronto part-time, too. Hehe. I now can sympathize with international tourists.

Officially it has been 1 week and ~7hrs since my OVC interview! I would so love to go to this school. I am incredibly anxious. Everyone says that there is nothing else I can do.. just wait. The more time that goes by, the more nervous I get. My tour guide said she found out she was accepted a few days after her interview. The interviewers said that decisions would be made within ~2 weeks! I am trying to stay positive. I guess there really isn't anything more I can do, huh? Well, please send positive thoughts my way. I truly love the OVC. 😍
Thanks guys 🙂

Good luck DrFreckels!!!!! I'm an Ontario resident and I applied this year, I don't find out if I get an interview until the end of this month. I hope we both get in!

When did they send your invitation?

March 19. They wanted me to come in on March 25th. If they told me on March 12, it would've been fine because I had spring break to figure everything out. But the 19th was the last day of spring break.

Hope you had fun in Guelph!

Yah, I think I was told on March 12 (I guess you already knew that, LOL!). I was given a choice between the 24th, 25th, 29th or 30th. I obviously chose the 30th and therefore had enough time to make arrangements. 🙂 I really wish I knew how many people they interviewed for international seats, and how many seats they're offering. I am really trying to not stress so much, since it's out of my hands now. I've had such vivid dreams of getting my acceptance notification, and when I wake up I am so disappointed. 🙁 I just hope and pray that I will be accepted this year. 😀 Thank you all for the support and well-wishes. I should know my fate between now and next Wednesday!

Oh, and yes I did have a wonderful time in Guelph! I envisioned my life there, did some touristy things, took advantage of my hotel (unlimited hot water & high thread counts), and bought a nice black purse (for the interview).

ladyh- I hope we both get in, too!! Good luck with your interview (b/c you'll get one). I heard it's the new MMI format. 🙂

If you go to this link http://www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/future/dvm/incoming/statistics/
They give all the stats from the last 4 years of ppl applying...and how many people they accepted/rejected

Yah, I've read those things over and over again😛. I also have the VMSAR book for 2009 matriculation (a bit old, but still works🙂). I would really like to know what this year looks like though. Just curious. Thanks for the tip. 😀

Okay, tomorrow marks two weeks since my OVC interview. They said I should be hearing back within two weeks. I am so not sure what to expect. :scared: I hope I get some great news. Keep your fingers crossed y'all!!!:xf:

Just an FYI... last year when us non-international ppl had our interviews, I think they told us 2 weeks too and it ended up being like 3 or 4 weeks. So if you don't hear anything back, don't be discouraged... it might take a little longer. But then again, maybe you will hear back right away..
good luck!!:luck:

Thanks a bunch. 🙂 I didn't hear anything via e-mail or phone call today. 🙁 So you applied last year and as a Canadian? Do you know if they notify you on your status first through webadvisor, e-mail, snail mail or phone call?

Hi all

We are starting our second batch of interviews shortly.

This year we had all new people in the admissions department so it took us a little longer to process all the applications from non-Canadians.

So if you haven't heard anything we'll be extending more invitations in a few weeks with interview dates probably in early May.

Sorry to keep you waiting!

it was webadvisor first and then we got a letter in the mail later on...

Hey, still haven't heard anything here either. I guess it's the waiting game now 🙂 I made some phone calls to Guelph today so I'll post something from what I hear back. Good luck to everyone here waiting.

Thank you. Are you an international applicant as well? It's been three weeks since my interview. I am being patient, but if you hear that decisions have already been made etc, please post it. 😀 Thanks a bunch!

Yes, I am an international student (from PA, going to school in MI). The conversation I had today was nothing more than what I've read here. Good luck though! Keep the thread updated if you hear anything, maybe we'll be classmates 🙂.

Good to know. 😀 How did the conversation go when you called the OVC? In other words, what did you ask and what did they say? 🙂 It's nice to hear something, I am glad you called. I have to send in a non-refundable $500 check to another school by April 30th, so I really hope we find out this week. :xf: My OVC tour guide was from Michigan. 😛 I wish you luck as well. I look forward to being classmates!!

You can try to ask for a later date ... they might have been able to accomodate you. Or ask if video conferencing is an option.

It went well, fairly quick. I actually spoke with Ms. Lowenger (who has posted on here already) asking about the status of my application, and she just said they were just beginning their second round of interviews and I would be hearing something in the next couple of weeks. The wait is nerve-racking. My other schools all needed money by April 15th ($500 and $1500 all non-refundable uhh), but I didn't want to go as far away as they were so I declined their offers--sooo I am very anxious to hear from OVC soon. Good luck to you too! 🙂

Did you hear about your interview invitation via a phone call or your e-mail?

Hey guys! I just got an invitation interview with Guelph on the first week of May, but I turned it down because I'm already going to UF 😀 Hopefully this opened up a spot for someone!

Still haven't heard anything... anyone in the same boat? I'm not sure what to do.

JerBer I'm in the same boat. I got a call a couple of months ago saying the committee was going to go over my application soon, and still haven't heard a word about their decision. Luckily I've already been accepted to SGU in the carribbean so I will be attending there instead.

Has anyone who has applied for the Guelph OVC class of 2015 heard about invitations for intervews yet? I got an email over a month ago saying that we would hear something in the beginning of March. I have emailed the admissions office but have not heard anything back yet. Does anyone else have information out there? Thanks

OVC interview offers won't be going out until the end of April, according to their website and the letter that they sent us. When did you receive that e-mail? I haven't heard from them in a while...I'm starting to get nervous!

That's for Ontarians (and Canadians?), international students get interviewed before us.

*Blush* I completely disregarded the title of this thread! My apologies.
SocialStigma, are you an Ontario resident as well? Have you gotten any e-mails from the OVC since late January? This waiting game is driving me crazy!

Yes I am and no I haven't 🙁. I'm too swamped with end of term stuff/upcoming finals right now to obsess too much over it but I know once exams are done, I'll be checking webadvisor/my Guelph email 30 times per day..
