In the back of first aid it lists Pathophysiology for the boards and wards as a comprehensive review source.

Do people generally count First Aid and Pathophys for boards and wards as redundant...........meaning that they are BOTH comprehensive overview books?

The title of pathophys for boards and wards makes me think it is more of a subject review (i.e. pathophysiology).

Do people use both or generally pick one or the other?

Pretty much everyone in my class had First Aid.

I don't remember seeing many people studying Boards and Wards.

I've never seen Boards and Wards, so I'm not sure how it compares to First Aid.

First Aid for Step 1 is for Step 1.

Boards and Wards is for Step 2.

I have to disagree Starfly,

First Aid for STep 1 lists it as a comprehensive review source for step 1 and i have heard many people on this board and other boards that absolutely love pathophysiology for boards and wards. If you look at it on amazon it is explicitly for step 1.

any other opinions?

I have to disagree with 12R34Y.

First aid for the boards and wards doesn't have any of the phram or anatomy or biochemistry, etc, etc. It's a good add on, but it is much better for step 2 than one, where they test the management of the patients and not the basic sciences.

Yes, pathophys is more a comprehensive disease resource, but it has less emphasis on anatomy, etc. It does provide a great supplement to pathology, though (as the name would imply). I love the book, but that is because I OVER-read resource material anyway. I have found some minor discrepancies in the Pathophys and Pharmacology Boards and Wards books, but it is probably just due to the different author styles.

Boards and Wards is for Step 2 and 3.

Pathophysiology for the Boards and Wards is a different book by the same author, for Step 1.

"First Aid for Boards and Wards" isn't a book (although First Aid for the Wards is).

In any case, none of these books are supposed to be comprehensive review sources. Think of them more as road maps / outlines that will guide your review.

Then I think I would have to withdraw my comment, but I am to lazy right now to reread everything with the new information in mind.
