Okay guys I'm feeling very overwhelmed with my MOT program this Fall 2012.

I went to get my books we have like near 15 books from the bookstore and I had to be a member of AOTA you have to buy books and articles from there too for the Fall term. I can tell you it's research based if you go to Bay Path College expect to do a lot of APA papers. We have two appointments to discuss our master research plans before Fall term starts. I'm glad I have been working on topics and research ideas over the summer otherwise I'd be behind already. They also require all assignments to be typed nothing can be done by hand and all assignments are due the first 5 min of class just a little info for anybody considering BPC.

I am confused on the way they have us in groups and the layout of classes and on where to go when to be there and what room. I will have to go talk to somebody on campus and sit down with them to even get a grasp on the set up of classes. I only just got in the mail my account information to log in online to start the pre-homework and we have an exam on medical terminology and a bunch of assignments due all on the first day of class which is next week. I am fine on the assignments but I never took medical terminology it wasn't a requirement how can I learn that in so little time! My bachelors nor my MOT program required medical terminology. I understand medical terminology should be learned overtime in any program but it's just not a lot of time. I am spending all my few days at the library trying to prepare for my first day of classes and everything is fine but the exam I'm not sure will stick in my brain in the little time. I hate that I have a negative attitude about it but when I look at ALL the books or look at everything we have to do I get an overwhelmed feeling. Maybe things will get easier with good time management that is if I can even pass the first part to continue the program lol...

Anybody else overwhelmed?

If you've ever learned the basics of how to meditate, that's something I'd recommend right now.PM me if you are interested in a couple techniques.

Try to eat semi-healthy and *make*sure*you*get*enough*sleep*!

Try drilling with flashcards for medical terminology.

We shall see how it goes I'm using flashcards.

Don't worry too much! What I learned in OT school so far is to remember everyone is in the same boat as you. Since you'll be in class with the same people for 2-3 years you get to know people quick. OTs tend to be helpful people in general so anytime you're stuck on someone you have several people to lean on, and they'll lean on you at other times! All my OT professors have been both challenging and understanding, you're pushed to learn things but they aren't unreasonable. You'll be learning things your interested in and are applicable so you will be more interested in the information. As for medical terminology I would look over the basics, you'll pick it up pretty quick, especially if you've had A&P. (By basics I mean endings -ology, -itis, -isis and structural term's hemat-, myel-, osteo) As for APA, nobody in my class was an APA whizz except for those that majored in psych. Just enjoy the remaining bits of summer (you'll be studying plenty in the fall, so give your brain a break!). Good luck!
