Is it possible to have your own private practice as path?
how would that work?

Yes, it is a partnership where the number of partners=1.

Either a solo practice, or a practice with one partner (sole owner) and other non partner employees.

On a side note, there is a rentacop in my corporate parking lot who is using a hot wheels radar gun from Toysrus and giving people homemade speeding tickets. Right of an episode of Reno 911, but this is true.
