Oxidation Question from Topscore

I don't understand why PbO is the oxidizing agent? I thought it would have been CO2...can anyone explain this thoroughly...topscore's explanation is weak

In the following equation what is the oxidizing agent?

PbO(s) + CO(g)---->CO2(g)+Pb(s)

Lead turns from being positively charged to neutral charged, and so has gained electrons in the process. This indicates that it is reduced, or is an oxidizing agent, which means it oxidized other things, takes their electrons away.

Pb goes from +2 to +0, I believe.
