I just wanted to make sure, I know that a peroxide ion has oxygen state of -1. So in the compound BaO2 the oxygen has a -1 oxidation state, so will the Barium still have a +2 oxidation state? Thanks in advance.

right. its barium peroxide. so oxygen def has an oxygen state of -1!

From wiki:
Ionic peroxides

Most alkali metal peroxides can be synthesized directly by oygenenation of the elements. Lithium peroxide is synthesized by treating lithium hydroxide with hydrogen peroxide:[20]

2 LiOH + H2O2 → Li2O2 + 2 H2O

Historically, barium peroxide is prepared by oxygenation of barium oxide at elevated temperature and pressure.[21]

2 BaO + O2 → 2 BaO2
