Hi, I will be a P3 student once school starts. I recently got an UNPAID internship as a pharmacy tech in a newly opened pharmacy. However, instead of doing actual pharmacy work or going to the pharmacy, I'm stuck in an office doing typing, organizing, etc. And now the owner of the pharmacy who is a real estate agent wants me to go around the city handing out brochures to doctors. He said that I will be in the pharmacy working with the pharmacist once it gets busier. I know the job market is scarce and its hard to get a job. I just want to learn and gain some retail experience. However I feel that I won't if I'm stuck in an office doing secretary work. Should I quit or give this internship a chance? Please and thank you.

keep it...i don't know what state you're in, but you might need hours to get licensed, so being the pharmacy bitch for a while is probably better than unemployment.

you're a P3. you dont have time going places handing brochures and doing secretary work. you wont learn anything but wasting your time studying for exams. let that UNPAID internship opportunity for other people who really needs it. its not difficult finding UNPAID internship

as for hours, since you're not doing pharmacy jobs that doesn't count. and you dont need it. your school will provide the hours in P4.

functionally disagree. if the supervisor is shady enough, they'll sign off on your hours in exchange for some bitch-work, the OP gets benefit there. You can also make an argument that she's performing functions for the pharmacy and therefore it counts as pharmacy experience.

Also, hours are state dependent. Some states will allow all your P4 hours to count in their entirety, others will only accept a portion.
