😱

No offense, dude, but I think that program is designed for people who are already reasonably in shape and trying to shed some vanity pounds, not folks who are morbidly obese.

i know 3 people who have it, and i've seen the videos. Its not just for people trying to shed the vanity pounds, its set up so that anyone can do it. Its really no different than any other workout video in reality. The main difference is that its got a schedule for you for 90 days, follow the schedule, and you'll lose weight. No difference really than working out for 90 days straight and dieting for 90 days straight.

btw, their super secret "muscle confusion" method is really just doing arms one day, chest the next, then legs, then abs, etc etc.

additionally according to them to get cut you follow their diet and then use high reps low weight on the exercises.

Wow......wow! Hilarious - and then to follow it up with a Jerky Boys reference....amazing.

Can anyone tell me where to get that icon of the smiley face bowing down in a "we're not worthy" fashion?

Actually, instead of P90x, I was thinking more along the lines of this.

(Man, I really am a dick.)

You're in Cleveland? Cool, I am about 3'6" and weight 450 lbs so we should definitely work out together sometime.

All bad jokes aside, I did about 30 mins of this one time and it is a really nice workout. I don't know if it's worth the money (someone told me $150 for all the DVD's) but it's worth a look if you're looking for a good, home regimen.

You should check this out instead. The added benefit is that its free. They post a workout of the day each day. Usually a combo of cardio, weight training, and plyometrics. There are gyms that specialize in this type of training as well. all listed on the site.

I'm 6'2'' 187 lb lean, fit and super vain, but have about 5-7 vanity pounds on the truck to shed. I do ab ripper x (p90x ab workout) three times a day. I have seen results in about 3 weeks. The p90x program is very demanding and requires about 250$ of equipment min. Two residents in my program are doing it, however, they are both super skinny already and just want to get cut up. They have complained of missing workout days due to call (q4-5 at my program) and late days in the OR, which typically result in missing 2-3 days per week. The program requires no more than one day off per week. The diet is the key and they complain of always being hungry (diet is easy to blow while on call). You must commit to the diet or the program will fail. Keep this in mind. The program is an overall success due to the rigorous exercises and caloric restriction combination. I choose to restrict my calories to 1600-2000/day (which results in a constant level of baseline hunger) and work out rigorously 5 days a week and am convinced I get the same results as P90x. However, I think this is still truly the greatest get-ripped-in -90-days program on the market👍👍👍! On another note, I can only pb about 215-225 lbs but can do 25 pull-ups baby!!!

Thanks for the replys. I am in the process of renovating my basement into a pseudo gym. I ordered the DVD today. I am excited to try something different. I hate running on treadmills and love cross fit exercises. I will keep you guys up on the process.

usnavdoc beat me to it. I second this wholeheartedly. Free, intense and awesome - you will see results if you can stick with the workouts. You can find links to scaled workouts for your fitness level on the homepage - www.crossfit.com. Because of crossfit, I stopped my gym membership and converted half of my garage into my own home crossfit gym.

Crossfit.com vs P90x vs my personal system will all work if they incorporate caloric restriction with near-daily rigorous cardio and strength training. I personally can't workout in my house and thus p90x is out. Just remember, stagnant water will quickly turn rancid and the same will happen to a stagnant body😱. So BRING IT!!!

I consider myself in fairly good shape. These workouts kicked my ass. Just a heads up.

i'm crossing my fingers that i'll get in shape with my wii fit.

although i've been playing a lot of other games instead...its all the same right? 😳

The p90x workout is legit if you can stick to it. I've been doing it and just completed my fourth week. I've done lots of different workouts including the squats and milk, body for life, olympic lifts etc.

This workout is the most well rounded I've ever done. The diet is just as important--as everyone already knows. I've been able to keep it up and am noticing a difference.

As far as someone saying the super secret muscle confusion is doing arms one day legs another etc--you're wrong. The moves you do are different enough that your body is forced to adapt. The thing that makes it nice is that most of the stuff is practical and helps with all physical activity.

I promise you that you will not workout harder than with this workout. I can't wait to see how I look in 60 more days.

👍 By far the best I've found. Especially during residency. I'm in close to the best shape of my life as a CA-1. I can't bp 450lbs, but I can do 100 pullups, Clean and Jerk 220lbs, and run a 9:00 1.5 miles, and I'm an "old guy" with a couple of kids. The best part is it only takes a few minutes a day. It is brutal at first though.

100 pullups with out resting, Damn!!

How about crossfit at home? How do you do it? I don't have boxes and kettle bells and a pullup bar and an olympic bar and this and that.

How about a good crossfit routine with just your bodyweight....Maybe some sort of hill run (my neighborhood) followed by some body squats, pushups, crunches, lunges, etc...

Any ideas? I don't want to buy any equipment.

Just to be clear. I could never and will never be able to do 100 pullups in a row without coming off the bar. Just 100 pullups. I don't think I've seen anyone do 100 pullups without coming off the bar. I'm in pretty good shape, but not that good of shape.

My main point was that I'm on the south side of my 30s, a CA-1 with 2 kids, and this system still works. The only drawback to crossfit is the kind of cultish attitude of some of the followers. That has gotten better over the last couple of years as people realize it's just a great system.

By the way, it is very similar to P90X. Just free and it goes on forever, not 90 days.

is it just me or do the people in the p90x commercials look extremely weird. like ripped in a gross way.

Have to love the exercise/nutrition marketing. Many of the models participating in these commercials and adds have been training for many years. They also do some extreme dieting along with getting the water out of their body, to make their skin look like it's vacuumed to the body. Diuretics are very popular for these fitness models.

I am not taking anything away from P90X, I know people that have used it and it worked for them.
