I was wondering if anyone knew taking a couple of the pre-req classes for PA schools at the jc made a diffrence in acceptance ? After receiving my bachelors ive completed a majority of the pre-med requirements however, there are a few courses that I still need to take and I've been thinkinga bout applying to PA school. Should i take the reamining courses at a university or would it matter if i picked the classes at my local junior college since ive already graduated from my university and money is a bit of an issue ? Thanks !

hey

so do you want to be a PA or an MD. If you want to be an MD then don't bother going to PA school. That is extra 2 years.

www.nccpa.net
www.aapa.org

are the two central websites for PAs. As for the pre-req, pick few schools and check out their websites. I'm sure most of them want the same basic classes.

I'm a Neurosurgical PA now. Love the field love the profession but I'm definitely not a Neurosurgeon. I was accepted right out of high school and became a PA in 2002. I though being a PA would be enough but after 7 years, I realize that it is not. Good luck. Hope this helps.

thanks for the information. Im considering going to PA school, however since most of the req's seem to overlap the MD route ... id like to attempt the MD route but im still trying to consider all my options. Working as a PA, you get to specialize, how does that work ? I went through Drexel university's website and noticed they had an entry level position as well as a post-grad position. Im assuming that the post grad position is for specializations ? Does anyone know what the pay grade typically is coming out of entry level PA school ? and after a post-grad work ?

Also does the location of where i decide to take my remaining req's matter ? Cause i know if pre-med students wnat to take some of their reamining req's to get into med schools at the jc's its not necessarily a good idea if they had the chance to take it the university they had attended. So does that go the same with applying to PA schools ?

Not sure....I needed few pre-req after PA school too. I took them in a community college. I'm not sure if it matters if you already have your degree from some where else. After finishing PA school, I did post graduate PA surgical residency.
