Has anyone heard back yet about interview invitations? I know the interviews are coming up for mid-February and I'm starting to worry that I haven't heard from them yet.

You're talking Pacific University in Oregon right? I got an email from them near the end of December with their interview dates. They also said that they would be sending out invitations at the beginning of February.

I'm hoping I get an invite, they're one of the few left I haven't heard from. Best of luck!

I just heard from Pacific. I guess they do a tiered waitlist system even before they handout interviews. Tier 1 seems like almost everyone gets an interview, tier 2 has a moderate chance and tier 3 has a very slim chance. After put in tiers, initial invitations are sent out on January 31. Interesting. I got put in tier 2. Guess I'll hope for the best!

Did they tell you about the tier system in their email?

Got the email... I'm in Tier 2 as well! Nerve-wracking! I wonder how many are in Tier 1...

Tier 2!! I hope we get invited

I received an email last Friday inviting me for an interview on Feb 14 for Pacific University in Oregon. Good luck everyone!

I just got an acceptance letter! Anyone from SoCal??

I declined my interview for Pacific so hopefully some of you tier 2's get a shot at the spot!

Thanks, Soccerlover233!! Fingers crossed even though it seems like a dim chance for me at this point! I want to tell them I can drive to campus in 20 mins if anyone fails to show up for their interview ;-)

Just got an email regarding their status. I'm sure all of you did as well. I guess they're all the way through tier 1 and now inviting people from tier 2. I didn't have much hope for getting an interview being in tier 2, but maybe I do now. But best of luck to all of you!

Just wondering if anyone got an email from Pacific University stating your position on the Interview Waitlist. I just got mine and they placed me in Tier 1! So I'm pretty hopeful to get an interview soon! Can't wait....

Tier 3 so I withdrew my application. Good Luck to you guys and Congrats!

I got placed in Tier 3 also. I can't believe they have tiers for their interview wait list. It seems a bit weird to me. But I'm holding out just in case. I should tell them that I live close by in case anyone no-shows on interview day. Good luck to all you guys who got interview invites!

Yeah, I didn't get the tiers thing it was slightly odd, and I was surprised by how uncompetitive my application was considering several factors, but at least I have one acceptance so far.

Good luck mv85dpthopeful !

Hi Everyone,

I just got an interview with Pacific. Can anyone tell me what type of writing sample they will make us do for the interview? I'm curious to know... thanks for your input.

What tier of their wait list were you in?

Hi Everyone,

You will probably get this email eventually but here is what it says about the writing sample:

"I tend to get several questions surrounding the writing sample portion of the schedule, so want to point out that this is simply designed for us to obtain a quick snapshot of your overall writing abilities. You will not be asked to solve a complex problem, rather provided the opportunity to reflect on a brief statement that will allow you to compose a few paragraphs of your thoughts or opinion. Please plan to bring a writing utensil (preferably blue or black ink, a pencil is also fine)."

Does anyone have any other tips or willing to share their experience about the interview process? I have an interview with them next week and I'm really nervous... Thank you all in advance.

Don't be nervous! The writing sample was quick only 15 minutes and you could choose from three prompts. I chose to write about a favorite quote and why it was meaningful to me. The interview questions were about why you're interested in pt, why pt in specific, why pacific, some ethical questions, your preferred role in a group setting, and to talk about a service learning experience you've had. Everyone was really nice!

It was a really chill interview for me. They (2 profs) barely asked me any questions and we just chatted about my interests and things. I think I got really lucky with who interviewed me. They did ask me why I wanted to be a PT, why Pacific and about my service in the community. The usual stuff. I think that was my favorite interview I've had so far. The writing was easy like the previous person said. They let you choose from 3 topics. I would bring a pencil with you. The people who scribbled out stuff all over their paper were probably regretting bringing only a pen. They give you breakfast and lunch which I appreciated. I had one interview where we were there 6 hours and they didn't. That was awful. Good luck!

Has anyone heard from Pacific University yet? I got an email saying that I'm waitlisted at #20. *sighs*

Yelp i'm # 33. Blah...

I was accepted via email earlier this afternoon. I haven't decided if I am going to go with Pacific or the others yet so don't give up hope. I am hoping to decide after I visit Eastern Washington this weekend and meet everyone. I'm leaning that way because of the tuition, but I want to fully vet the program before deciding.

Congratulations on your acceptances!! Both Pacific and EWU are excellent programs. When did you have your Pacific interview? I had mine last Saturday and I'm still waiting to hear back!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm usually a " don't worry about the things you can't control" type person but the number 33 is just a little higher than I was expecting, and it's shaking me a little. Just got to keep reminding myself that it's out of my control. It's just a bit unsettling to know it might be a close call for me, and that I'll probably have to wait a while to know if I got in. Here's hoping that 100K tuition is a big enough disincentive to make a lot of people choose other school besides Pacific.

My pacific interview was February 13th (Friday the 13th haha). They notified me really fast about a decision. It really surprised me. I expected them to take the full time until March. Now I have to decide which school I want to go to. I also got accepted today to University of Vermont. So now I have even more to think about.

Anyone else get anything from Pacific's waitlist yet besides the ones earlier.... I'm still waiting, and I'm getting anxious. >_<

Nope. Nothing here. I really don't think they can say anything until the March 14th. At that point they could update the waitlist. But it won't be until March 20th or later until they have any significant moves. At #20 I think you are gonna get in eventually. Pacific is really expensive, which is a huge disincentive, and most schools don't get a yes from more than 65% of their acceptances. But obviously I'm bias because I'm #33 lol.

But if CU Denver goes through 107 acceptances to fill 66 spots (61.7% "yes rate") then I can't imagine Pacific's is any higher.

I need Pacific to go through 83 acceptances to fill their 50 sports ( 60% "yes rate").

You only need them to go through 70 (71% yes rate).

This is not taking into account the benefit of people withdrawing from the waitlist.

So I think you're in eventually and, at #33, I'm gonna be right around the cut-off... yikes. YIKES! I could be waiting until August!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I hope we both get in. Pacific is on my top three schools of choice. I loved the campus and facility. Gawd this wait is killing me. :'(

Also, the reminder email I got from Pacific last week said "Confirm your spot on the Tier 1 waitlist", so I think this supports the idea that they expect to go through 30+ on the wait list. 🙂

Whoah! What? You're on Tier 1?! Oh crap! I really hope they get past #33 then, buddy! Would love to have you as a future classmate. *crosses fingers for the both of us*

Has anyone heard of any movement on the waitlist so far?

I seriously can't wait to see you get in.

@DesertPT OMG DUDE!!! I AM SO OVERJOYED RIGHT NOW!!! I cannot wait! You have to keep in touch with me if I get in... you're an awesome inspiration, my fellow PT applicant. Thanks for the confidence and support. I seriously can't wait!!! And I hope I get in!!! Sorry for the exclamation points all over the place. HAHA!! 😀

NICE! You are so in! Please turn them down. lol j/k.
Ok time to nerd out on our chances:
*For anyone not up to date, originally I was #33 and DjT3Kn was #20

Okay, here we go...
Since there were 12 people between us and now there are only 7 that means 5 out of 12 (41.6%) people immediately released their spot on the waitlist. If I extrapolate that percentage (just for fun) to the 1-19 on the waitlist, that means about 11 of those 19 remained on the wait list and received official offers. So Pacific probably sent out 50 acceptances, got immediately turned down by 11 of those 50 and are currently attempting to fill those spots. If we assume continues to get a 78% yes rate then 8.5 people will say yes out of the 11. leaving 2.5 spots open. 2 if you're a pessimist 3 if you're an optimist 🙂.
@DjT3kN So that's why I think you're in, and I get an update April 17th saying I'm number 6.

Obviously, what I'm leaving out is that some people will change there minds after accepting. So it looks like I'm counting on about 6 people to change there minds or drop off the waitlist...

Well that was fun. Back to work for me!

I guess you have some anxiety filled days ahead of you for the time being...

@DesertPT I cannot wait for April 9th to arrive.... I'm hoping for an email acceptance to appear much sooner than that... but I cannot contain myself. I'm tooo anxious at this point.

Hi Everyone! Just wondering if anyone that was given an offer of acceptance in the past 2 weeks or so declined theirs or not.... please please let me know. I'm sooo anxious at this point. Gah!!! LOL!

@foodislife I got in!!! Any word on your position yet?!

@DjT3kN THAT's GREAT!!! I knew it! Congratulation!

No changes for me yet, but I guess I know that I'm number 8 now since you got in.

@foodislife 7 more to go! Woot woot! I wish you the best of luck, my friend.
