I was just wondering for those of you that have had an interview at Pacific University, what were the interviews like and how were they structured? closed file or open file? how do you like the campus?

Thanks!

Hi,

I interviewed at Pacific a little over a month ago. Unfortunately I don't remember if it was open or closed file.. I had two people interviewing me, an admissions person and a current student. It was just kind of a back and forth thing with them asking questions. It was very relaxed. There was also a portion of it where a certain skill was taught earlier and we were asked to perform it on the student doing the interview.

Something I thought was very cool about Pacific was that they actually let us sit in on a class. At first I didn't really think I'd like to do it, but I found it to be a good opportunity to see what life is like as a student.

Forest Grove is very small, as is the campus. I kept driving down the street wondering when I'd hit PUCO, then all of a sudden it was there and gone in about a block.

Everyone there was extremely friendly and overall I liked the school. The only downside I can think of is I wish I'd gotten to see some of the clinic stuff. If you have any other specific questions just ask.

that's what they said..we get to sit in on a class. (i'm really excited about that!) what is the dress for the interview that you wore and that everyone else wore? I was planning on suit and tie..did you get accepted after your interview and if so what were your stats like GPA and OAT (if you want to tell me, that is) you can pm me if that works better for you! thanks!

for me there were about 20 students, you view the class 1st things for an hour. then they talk to you about the school, financial aid, and the clinics for an hour or 2. then you there is a student q and a session where all proffesor people leave and you can ask 5 current students questions. then you eat lunch with professors (its possible you could be eating with the person interviewing you. i did through coincidence). after lunch you separate inter 3 time periods, 1 is a tour, 1 is an interview and 1 is a break. you'll do all 3. they ended it with cookies with profesors and the other interviewees. it gets done at 3-4 something like that.
for the interview there is one professor, and 1 current student. its not 2 intense but be prepared. you might find this useful http://www.studentdoctor.net/schools/?view=optometry

it is closed file so your interviewers know nothing about you.
i had 330 OAT and about 3.60 GPA and i got in.
i wore a suit and tie and so did everyone else, so thats a safe bet.

Congratulations SIUE optkid on getting accepted..so are you going there or still waiting on other schools? also, how long till you heard about your acceptance from them? hopefully i'll be attending there too and thank you for all of the feedback on the interview, it was really helpful and so is that site..thanks again and good luck..hopefully see you at pacific next year!

i accepted their offer this week and i am about 90% sure ill be going there. i heard back in 1 week, the friday after my interview. good luck with your interview day and enjoy it! hope to see you at pacific!

Was there a writing sample/essay? If so, what did you think of it? And when did you hear back from them regarding admission status?

The writing sample is really straight forward. Mainly serves to just see if you can spell, punctuate, etc. Don't worry about it, they say that no student has ever been denied admission that is already well-qualified.

They say they will respond within 10 days.
