What if you have to choose between NYU and UOP?
You're getting a major cost savings going to UoP over NYU, it's a significant tuition/living difference and it's a year shorter.
I don't know how many people have gotten off the list. But when I called last week, they told me they can't give me much information till the beginning of may because adcomm doesn't meet till the end of April...which I find BS considering they are already pulling people off the waitlist. I don't get what is going on.
Same here, although the second deposit was due beginning of april so they found they had some spots open for those that interviewed for the alt spots.
Just wondering if the 10 people that usually get off the waitiing list will account for those that are already pulled from the wait list. Which would mean we would have even slimmer chances of getting in =(.
On a side note, if you guys have acceptances elsewhere will you be putting the second deposits down...or will be waiting another year for UoP!?

Yeah I hope our chances are still good...and no I will not be waiting another year, I've already waited another year (since I am a reapplicant). As much as I love Pacific I can't afford another year off. I will happily pack my bags and moved to Cleveland.
I know of three people who got in off of the wait list recently, so I'm guessing there are 9-10 others that I haven't learned about. UOP was clear with me when I called this week- they had already decided that I am in the bottom 1/4 of the waitlist and they don't expect to get that far down on the list. I'm cool with that- I'm just excited that I will not be wondering and waiting next year- I was willing to drop every other school anyway if I KNEW that I would get into UOP on the following cycle- so I was willing to wait a year for the best and now I'm getting to. Either way I'll be entering the field with all of my peers who got into other schools this cycle. I'm also glad to not have to hold out hopes til the BITTER end of this cycle- now I can relax because they were polite enough to tell me right where I stand.
so I just called UoP and they said I was in the 2nd quartile🙁. She didn't give me any real idea of my chances...not even a probably not or possibly, just a huge question mark maybe maybe not.
Do you guys know how many people are on the waitlist? Or does " ___ quartile" really mean nothing...
I was wondering the same thing actually. She said they may make it through the 1st and they may not, but I still have a chance. That really means nothing to me though hahaha. If anyone has more information please share.Do you guys know how many people are on the waitlist? Or does " ___ quartile" really mean nothing...
when i called two weeks ago, they told me that theres about 40 ppl on the alternate list so im guessing if ur in the first quartile, chances are good? i thought they werent releasing alternate list info until end of apr/ beg of may...
guess ill call tomorrow.... wish me luck

So, not to be any kind of bearer of bad news, but Dr. Yarborough mentioned, off hand, at Pacific Pride Day that there was only 1 seat in the class of 2011 that was unfilled at this point.
I heard back from Pacific earlier this week. They told me that I was next on the waitlist, and that a spot opened up. So, I am offically accepted into the class of 2011!
I tried to figure out what number I was, since I figured it might clear up some questions for y'all. But, all they could tell me was that I was in the 1st quartile and that I was next up on the waitlist. Good luck everyone, don't lose hope.

Just wanted to give some "opitimistic thoughts" for all you all you on the alternate list b/c I was there this time last year:
1. You are still gonna graduate the same year as most other dental students.
2. If you get a job, you are going to be making money during this one year, so that helps reduce your cost of attendance.
3. It's only April, and I didn't even interview until April last year (last year people on the waiting list were accepted up until June).
4. If you wait it out your gonna go to the best school in the country (obviously I'm partial).
5. If you don't get it, think of it as a vacation. You're gonna get an extra year that other dental hopefuls don't get. Go traveling, do something exciting, enjoy a year of no "real" responsibilty, or just relax a bit.
6. Lastly, there is a small chance that some people might drop the first week of school, and for that reason they will pick two people off the alternate list to attend the first week of class. I was forunate enough to do that, but really, no one dropped. It was still really fun. I got a tase of what to expect and it was fun meeting everyone in the class , and it gives you a chance to check out the school.
Don't stress, you've basically done the hard part and that is getting into dental school. The best of luck with whatever happens!👍

Congrats, and thanks for a few encouraging words. I guess you never know. Funny how I called a few weeks ago and they said the committee wasn't meeting till the end of april and I would find out the beginning of May then i found this thread and realized that wasn't actually the case. Anyways, i guess its not over till its over.

Same happened with me. I called about 2.5 weeks ago, and they said they won't have the ranking done until early May. After I came across this thread, I called agian (about a last week) and they told me that they had just received the ranking. Then I heard back this week that I was in. And no, it's not over until it's over

Congrats on your acceptance. Welcome.
Hell yeah, I love Rocky.
Has anyone gotten in recently or known someone who has? Or anyone have any new updates.
I called them last week and they said the students with multiple seats have until May 15th to decide. She told me some seats will open up most probably AFTER May 15th. That was convincing enough for me not to call them again this week!!
I'm starting to get worried though. She said I'm in the first quartile and my chances are high. but I cann't imagine why someone would refuse to go to UoP!!

Hi everybody this is my first post,
I interviewed with the group on March 6th and was put in the 4th quartile of the waitlist. Is anybody else in the 4th qaurtile? Does this mean we get a better chance next year? If so should we only apply to UOP?

Hey guys,
As I mentioned earlier, I was told that I was on the first quartile. They called me today and offered me a position. So, hang in there. Good luck
Congrats! Must be so happy🙂
