Is it really necessary to bring one for the interview? I have people telling me it is but why? I don't need to write stuff beforehand to look at, plus during the interview I'm not going to be looking at a padfolio.....

I hear schools give you handouts in a folder so all of that stuff can go in there...

I feel like it's just an unnecessary accessory to look more professional, but not something really needed. Plus it'd be nice not to have to carry it around everywhere.

I don't bring one but some people do with their resume and transcript. I find it unnecessary tbh . every school I've been to, I was provided with everything.

Id recommend one; it not only looks sharp, but also, you can take notes of things during the day/ write down questions you have at the very least.

I always bring one. I use it to hold my pen, 2x2 photo if necessary, social security card if necessary, documents schools may ask me to bring, my drivers license, and a few blank sheets of paper. I find it useful but It's still more of an aesthetic item than anything.

I bought one 2 years ago and have used it quite a few times. Not the worste $20-30 I have ever spent.

I didn't even realize it was a thing during my first interview but I got one for the rest of them since I never brought a bag and it is nice have something to put papers in and note paper for stuff.
Definitely not necessary but falls firmly into the category of "Can't hurt/Might help"

(imo) I don't think it really makes a difference. For me, the burden of carrying it around and remembering I brought it outweighs (what I consider) the small benefit having it brings. (but to be fair, the number of umbrellas I've lost by being forgetful is in the 20s)

It is definitely not needed. I only pull it out during my interview to look at questions I had prepared for them.
