Hey guys
So everything was going smoothly in the app process for me until I checked my bank statement and I accidentally paid the secondary fee for a school twice, and they cashed both checks. So, anyone have advice about how to go about getting a refund as smoothly as possible? Should I call or send a letter? I was thinking of printing the copies of the checks and writing a formal letter explaining the situation. I know they aren't going to be thrilled with me...but it's $75 and I can't help but think of the loans I'm gonna have anyway.

Thanks in advance!

I know someone who did this last year. Just call the school and ask for it back. Depending on the school, they might transferring you to different people, and it might be a pain in the ass, but eventually you'll get it back. I doubt it'll affect your chances of getting in or anything like that.

Or you could ask for the money back AFTER you find out if you are accepted. They owe it to you. Just tell them that you didn't notice until now. Aside from that, I doubt student accounting has anything to do with admissions in most places.

Hehe that's a good point -- but I feel like the longer I wait the less likely this will happen. I'll just call and give it a shot -- I imagine they will send me through a long list of contacts ending up at student accounting.
