Better than nothing but veritable pocket change to him. Many of us give much more as a percentage of our income to eleemosanary causes.

When someone ultra wealthy tries to do something good even though it is “pocket change for him” people will still find something negative to say about it. In some countries, wealthy corrupt leaders do absolutely nothing and hoard all the money to themselves. I’m sure there are many wealthy folks in this country who have done nothing.

SEATTLE, February 5, 2020 – The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today announced that it will immediately commit up to $100 million for the global response to the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The funding will help strengthen detection, isolation and treatment efforts; protect at-risk populations; and develop vaccines, treatments and diagnostics. The new funding is inclusive of $10 million the foundation committed to the outbreak in late January.

Bill and Melinda Gates have also pledged to give away most of their fortune during the course of their lifetimes. And they started the Giving Pledge, which is a group of billionaires who have pledged to give away their fortunes as well. So there's that.
