Hi there,

I'm a Canadian med student and don't know anyone who's written the USMLE Step 1 yet so I have noone to ask but this forum...

Are you provided/allowed scrap paper to write on during the test? I'm specifically concerned about some of the biostats that have calculations in them (that annotation keypad thingy isn't so great at math haha)

They will give you laminated sheets and dry erase markers for making notes. Not quite the same as paper and pen, but I didn't find myself needing them too much.
 
Agree with above. You get a marker and a board, but it is barely used. I think I used it once to draw out the branches of the Brachial Plexus (just to remember the order).
