The new application is out. I am stressed out over it. I have not finished my essay yet. Actually I have just started writing it. My question was if you recommend applying online or by mail. I am more leaning toward paper application because I am afraid that something might go wrong electronically and my application might not go through.
Any kind of advice for all of us who are going to apply this year would be greatly appreciated.

Just do it electronically. It's simpler and the majority apply this way.

You can't do it by mail anymore. I think this year, they only give the application out electronically. correct me if Im wrong.

actually, they still give you the option to apply by mail if you want to.

Electronically is the way to go. You can always edit it until you are ready to send a final copy. You also get a paper copy of what the schools receive to check for any errors. Believe me, when working with AADSAS, you want as little paper as possible. I?ve heard horror stories of losing letters of recommendations. The electronic system isn?t that bad and it will most likely be faster.

A word of advise: Get your application in EARLY! We cannot stress this enough. I know most of you have heard this, but it really makes a difference. The dental school spots fill up quickly. If someone is accepted before you, but you are more qualified, the school can?t take their acceptance away. It?s not like undergrad where there are plenty of seats available. Timing really makes a difference.

Use your school computers. Most Universities/CC's have faster connection speeds. Applying Electronically is the best way to go. Just looking through the course descriptions/Course Numbers to put on the paper form is tedious. Point and Click Point and Click!!! +pissed+

ALL THAT HAVE REPLIED HAVE GIVEN YOU EXCELLENT ADVICE.

Dentist2008:

My future colleague, I cannot stress enough one CRITICAL aspect of applying. APPLY EARLY. AADSAS is a clearing house and they take their time. Also keep in mind you should apply early cos things get "lost".

First off, apply electronically. For all the given reasons, but mainly cos its the easiest.
Second, apply ASAP. You're essay is important but keep in mind the AD-Com will only spend 10 min max reading it. Don't go over board. The more straightforward and direct the better. That doesn't mean cripple a strong paragraph into 3 sentences. Just don't be verbose.
Third, since it will take at LEAST a month for AADSAS to forward your application to the schools, the sooner you apply the sooner the schools get your app, the sooner you get an invitation to interview. Interviewing early is one of the best things you can do. Believe me.

Wish you all the best.

In this days and ages, who would want to deal with paper and pencil? PC, laptop, notebooks.........

I am avoiding papers as much as I could.
