I will not stake my future on a government contract.

Too late.

At the time, many saw Medicare as "socialized" medicine. It's easy to forget that the JACHO inspections are a means to maintain the Medicare reimbursements the hospitals are dependent on.

In other words, you will stake your future on a government contract, because that's what is already happening!

I agree entirely. I lost my residency program due to JCAHO failure and loss of CMS funding. The fact is that all hospitals require CMS (government) money to function. Our training, and our future jobs are all reliant on a steady flow of these funds. We all work for the government to some degree, but at least unlike Canada we still have some autonomy over our own careers.
