Im just looking for advice and prior stories like mine. I am going to be applying to med school fof the class starting in 2015. I am currently working as a paramedic and by the time i apply i will have 4 years experience. I am getting As in all of my courses and i was the valedictorian of my class. What i am concerned about though is the fact that in 2009 i left with a load of 16 credits and did not withdraw. Which has left 5 fs on my transcript. I work for a major metro ems service that is considered one of the best in the country. We work closely on research with a medical system that is a global force so i get tones of experience with research. I am also a paramedic instructor for a local college that thinks very highly of me. I honestly think i would be set if I did not have those Fs. Im just looking for advice on my situation and to hear from people with similar stories. Thanks

Ooohh man 5 Fs. Have you calculated your GPA including those?

Depending on where your GPA is with those, retaking those credit for DO replacement grades will nearly nullify their effect, especially if you are clear in your explanation of how you got those.

If you're set on MD, They might put you in a bind, though some ad coms may overlook them because the Fs clearly were not from academic inability.

Im in the process of retaking them now and i could honestly care less about the m.d title as long as i can practice as a physician it is irrelevant to me.

Great! Apply early and broadly, make sure you account well for the direction change in your PS, continue to do well and give yourself ample MCAT study time, and you should succeed. Its hard to be more specific than that without hard numbers but I think you'll be fine.
