Im a medic now and want to go to PA school. Im finishing my BS in Biology and will have 4 years in ems all together. How will my expierence help me with getting in to PA school and how will it help me get through PA school?
Traditionally, schools have put equal emphasis on experience and GPA, as the average new PA student
used to be over 30 and with ~ 5-10 years of medical experience. You'll have to do some DD on which schools still favor those with experience (Our own associations have since sold us out, publishing papers that prefer people in their early 20's without adequate life experience and 4.0's). As far as experience helping you
once you get in school, it depends on the quality and extent of your experience. Only you can honestly answer that. I would suggests, if you haven't already, to take pharmacology classes as a prep, even if they are not on the pre-req list. It will look good, and '
will' help you later. As for post graduation, at this time, there still are quite a few old guard PAs with military experience out there (Me included
😀). This
will help you land a good job. At least, that has been my experience
😉
