part-time job?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My opinion is that it would be very, very difficult to have a job. I'm pretty much in class 7:30-4:30 and study the rest of the time. I go to all classes, but some people skip lectures and use that for additional study time.

Any free time is to try to keep the rest of my life going...time with wife, eat, do errands. I used to work out 5 days a week and now I'm lucky if I go to the gym once or twice a week.

So, my advice is trying to work during dental school would not be a good use of of your most valuable resource - time.

I agree with Trent, it would be tough. Some of the people in our class (and other classes) have jobs they can work only on vacations or whenever they want, while other people work a little bit at the school cleaning up the lab and stuff. Not for me, but some people do it.

Get a job at the school library or gym, so you can study while working. Or try applying to be an RA at the dorms, if you can handle living there.

Just wondering if it's possible to have a part-time job while in DS? i.e. 10 hours a week or something. Has anyone done it?

A handful of people in my class do it...I could've probably gotten away with it first year but there's no way I would have even tried this year.

I work about every 2nd weekend tutoring/teaching. Not much but it helps with groceries and bills.

my first year i worked as a kaplan DAT instructor. 2nd-4th yrs i worked in the sim lab. got paid to do lab work 🙂
