make sure you have a 30-60 day out

tell them to let you know within 6 months whether you will make partner.

and have a look at the books to verify that they are making 500k. I highly doubt they are but its possible. If they say no you cant look at the books, move on. After you ask them to look at the books they may not be interested in you anymore. And No 300k is NOT unreasonable for such onerous call schedule.

Ask them to pay you hourly until you make partner!

These contract negotiations in anesthesia and empoyment models have many many pitfalls!!

When do groups usually reach out to those they interviewed to offer a contract or say "thanks but we have already filled the position"? Some of the places I've interviewed at want to have a spot filled/contract signed by end of December. There are also places who want someone to start soon, but I'm still in residency, so why even bother interviewing me now? is this because they might have a spot open up at the end of the academic year? Is it proper to reach out now to ask them whats up? i know there's a few months left to graduation=lots pf time, but the uncertainty is killing me.
