The EK Bio review book mentions, in about one paragraph, the medulla, hypothalamus, thalamus, cerebellum, and cerebral cortex. Would you say knowing the basic functions of each is sufficient for the MCAT?

yeah, basics should suffice. It seems bio is become more "passage based" from just random knowledge anyway
