Is it possible to work only one day a week as an anesthesiologist? I would like to pursue other interests after residency (business) but still would like to stay involved in medicine. Would I be able to find a position working one day a week, preferably on the weekend? Would I be able to keep up my skills in only one day a week?

Thanks,

Make it 2 days a week.
Make the 2 days Saturday and Sunday.
Get paid as a 1099.
I think you'd have lots of interest.

Possible - sure. Esp if you have benefits from your primary job

Skills up - probably not, esp if you work weekends when the caseload is lower.

🙄

Personally, I wouldn't want anyone who only passes gas 4 days a month giving anesthesia to anyone I cared about.

why because its hard to do? you think you would forget how to administer anesthesia. Is it a requirement to work 52 weeks per year?

i think if you are doing bread and butter stuff its not big deal to work 4 days per month
