I'm taking a drawing class this semester as one of the prerequisites, but I'm no artist and I'd hate to get a bad grade in drawing and have it bring my GPA down. Does anyone know if the art class can be taken as pass or no pass?

You'll definitely want to check with the school(s) you're applying to for that answer. It would be a shame to do it wrong and have your application process delayed for another year.

That being said, if you do have to take it for a grade, most intro art classes aren't real hard as long as you get everything turned in on time.

thank you for responding johann. I guess I have to take it for a grade, but I think we're actually graded on our art skills in this class so it's a bust to think a class like art can bring my GPA down. Oh wellz...

Hi Prodigiousflame,

As the previous poster mentioned before, call the department and ask them. If this has GPA implications I would not assume anything. There are some schools that require an art class but it does not have to be a graded course.

Hi Porto, I'm taking this class because San Jose requires it and they told me over the phone that I need to take it for a grade unfortunately.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, intro art classes are pretttyyyyy easy. I had to take a 3-D art class for Dominican. I took ceramics, the first thing the professor asked was if we were here to take the class for an easy A. Professors won't judge you on your artistic level or skill but more so if you do the projects and turn things in on time.
