Hey everyone! I just found out that I passed the NAPLEX 🙂 I found the SDN community to be EXTREMELY helpful in guiding my study so thought I would take the time to give it forward. I studied hardcore for this exam around 8-10 hours a day for a solid 6 weeks.
Here is what worked for me:
- I woke up at a good time. I didn't set any alarms, adequate sleep is very important in order to retain what you learn and I really do enjoy my sleep 🤣
-I worked out 45mins - 1 hour on most days in order to keep my sanity
- I studied maths and biostats everyday for 1-2 hours. I felt 100% confident in all the maths and biostats questions in RxPREP and as a result I felt very confident on the exam in those areas. I tried doing the SDN 120 and started getting very confused so I stopped and I am glad I did. Know all the formulas! Any maths question in the RxPREP book is fair game
- I spent 1hour reading last day's notes that I had written from last chapter and made sure that I can recall it blindly. If I can't recall it I kept going over it. I would randomly try to recall information whether I am in the shower, driving etc. This helped solidify the information I went over.
- The rest of the day (around 5 hours) I focused on the main chapters and made sure to know the guidelines very well. HTN, Diabetes, Dyslipidemia, HIV, Chemo, ID, Compounding, Drug references, Immunizations. These chapters I knew like the back of my hand. I also did the RxPREP questions to help solidify the information I learned. When I got hungry, I would stop studying and grab food/watch tv/an episode of shark tank or something and then get back to studying.
- On the exam I rechecked every single maths or biostatistics calculation two to three times. Make sure to read the units and what to round your answer to. You don't want to lose easy points for silly mistakes like wrong units or rounding. Make sure to read the patient cases very well and watch out for any drug allergies or interactions that could influence your answer.
In my opinion, it is better to over study than understudy for the Naplex. Just remember the harder you work, the luckier you get 😉
If there's anything I can help with, please dont hesitate to ask! Good luck to everyone 🙂
