Hi all. Just wanted to pass on a great book I just finished. It is called "The Ashes of My Dreams" by Ed Smith. In med school there is alot of talk about viewing the encounters from the patients perspective, but alot of it seems to be preachy. This was just a great book that tells the true story of the author going through trials and tribulations of dealing with an accident that left him paralyzed. The author really seems to have a knack for telling a story, in my humble opinion. It is not directed at health care workers, so it does not come off as preachy whatsoever. Just wanted to pass on another good read.

Complications by Atul Gawande. Essays from a surgical resident. Exceptionally good writing (he is a medical correspondent for the New Yorker as well).
