Passing the USMLE: Basic Sciences

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
bump, anyone used it?

I'm also wondering which q&a type book is preferred: buzzwords for the bords, or deja review for usmle step 1?

Why take chances on the most important test of your life? Use what's been tried and tested over and over again. You don't need anything but First Aid and UWorld. Less is more, trust me.

The question is why you would use these books and/or the one you mentioned in your first post in place of the gold standards: FA, Goljan RR, and UWorld.

The only supplemental books worth adding are maybe CMMRS and HY Behavioral Science if you're weak there. Otherwise, leave the other books alone and stick to the good stuff.

Plus, the fact that the first book is entitled "Passing the USMLE" doesn't inspire much confidence either. Your goal should be to pulverize this test, not merely "pass" it.

I wouldn't buy this book, but I would definitely supplement FA / Goljan with more than one or two random HY books like the above poster suggested. You don't need to read them cover to cover, but there are valuable BRS / HY / other books out there that have been previously discussed on here and certainly valuable if you want to get a 240 / 250 level score.

I agree that you should use what has worked in the past. Some students get extremely stressed and buy books they will never use. Stick with a few and learn them well. Do as many practice problems as possible.
