I've been working on the keyhole the last couple of days. Suddenly it's starting to make a lot more sense. I still draw out the TOP/FRONT/SIDE views for each of the shapes. So I have 2 questions about this method. Will I run out of time on the actual DAT if I use this method? And 2, If I draw a Side view for example, and the answer choices are rotated... am I allowed to rotate my scratch paper on which I drew the side view? I don't plan on holding it up to the screen, just rotating to save time. Anyone do this and know for sure that it is allowed?

If you draw out all sides then you will 100% run out of time and I dare anyone to say that I am wrong!

Thats how strong I feel on that. Thats a no-win situation. Stop drawing!

Good luck.

Even though I have not taken the DAT, I can say for sure that dental poppie is right. Focus more on mental picture rather then drawing it out.

Dental Poopies, your wrong! jk jk Actually he's right.

Another strategy is to count the number of sides to makes sure then match up. Its hard to explain it with out showing someone in person, but count the sides as a final check. x number sides on the westside of the object, y number of sides on the eastside of the object, z number of sides on the northside...etc. 🙂

You certainly can't afford to draw on the actual test day in the light of only 40 sec per question given.

Both DAT Achiever and acethedat have had good questions equivalent (if not harder) to the actual ones you are going to see on the test day. You may want to try downloading a DEMO test from DAT Achiever's website and see how helpful these animated models may be in guiding you to formulate the right set of strategies uniquely belonging to yourself.
