Hey guys, in your opinion, how is Crack PAT vs. the DAT? Is it good prep material? I ask because I plan on taking the DAT this summer, and asked for it as a Christmas present ha.

In my opinion, hands down the best resource for the PAT section.

How is it compared to the real thing? I've seen a few posts, and a lot of people say its actually harder than the real PAT.

It's the closest thing you will find to the real DAT. Doing each of the 10 tests twice and going over my wrong answers definitely helped me achieve a high PAT score. In my opinion, keyholes, TFE, and cube counting were slightly less complex on the real thing. The paper folds for hole punching were similar, but the smaller dots made the actual test a little more challenging. Pattern folding and CDP were pretty similar to the real test.

If you are doing well on CDP, you will probably do well on the PAT section. I scored a few points higher than my averages on CDP.

hi friend,
so i took my DAT this past summer and in what i saw on -- CDP is equal in difficulity to the DAT with keyholes, pattern folding, angles and top front end.
HOWEVER the real DAT has MUCH simpler hole punching and cube counting.
all in all, its a great resource and its all many people use. Kaplans PAT is much too simple. you should defly buy it and do it and practice till you go crazy from looking at all the shapes. gluck

I thought TopScore was the closest to the real thing, but Crack DAT is good for getting a ton of practice problems. I think my final Crack was a 25 or something and I got a 22 on the real thing. You can search through my posts for my breakdown if you are bored.

You could be right. I took the test 6 months ago and can't remember exactly what each section was like. Regardless, CDP is a great resource

Maybe topscore was more similar in terms of difficulty. The resolution, however, is much better on CDP and the real test. Both programs have a few errors to look out for...

@the OP, check out the angle section on the free ADA sample DAT. They are very similar to the real test in terms of positioning and angle size difference.

I disagree. I thought the resolution on my real exam was horrible. Crack DAT is crystal clear compared to the real thing.

Resolution on my DAT was terrible, Crack the Dat was crystal clear but it prepared me. I consistently got 21-22 CDP and the real DAT, 21 so I am glad I used it. The resolution on Topscore is more similar to the real thing however.

Crack is the best resource for you! get it dont waste any time start practicing now!! I noticed that when I was practicing I would get better every day, but when i took some time off, I would regress in my ability. Your brain needs to get used to seeing the problems in different ways. **at first dont worry about the timer on the really hard ones, just try and see it, as you get better your speed will increase
