Can any of you who have been accepted to one or several schools post your PAT scores? My TS and AA where 20+ but my PAT was 17 and I'm wondering how much it will hurt my chances of getting in. Averages at all the schools (and here) seem to be in the 20s. Assuming you have a strong GPA, good ECs and LORs, is a 17 PAT just too low? I only had time to take the DAT once, so couldn't raise my score.

all of my scores were over 20, except QR: 16 (ran out of time) and PAT: 18, and I am in at 2 schools so far. so i would think you're fine.

check out my predents profile. yeah, i got a 16 PAT and still got 3 interviews and 1 acceptance. and hopefully i will still hear from other schools after the new year. just keep your head up!

19 PAT and i am in

its hard to remember... but i think i got a 15 on the PAT

thanks for the posts, guys--this gives me hope. It's hard to tell how much weight schools give to the PAT...

i have 21 on both AA and TS and 17 on PAT, i guess we have very similar DAT score, my AA & TS might be even lower than yours. I got 5 interviews so far( including one at case for waitlist) and 3 acceptances. So u definitley have a good chance. Good luck!

I'll chime in here along with the others. A 17 is not a deal breaker. 😎

This might be good news for me too. I also got a 17 on PAT. I also have a 3.97 cumm. GPA. I got three interviews, but no acceptances so far. 😳
I'm trying to keep hope!

Agreed, a good PAT score is icing on a cake. if your a good candidate, it will help you look just that much better. however, it cannot compensate for a low DAT score.

I think the importance of the PAT really varies from school to school. In some places, I don't think it matters at all. I met an admissions officer at one school who stated outright that he has seen no correlation between PAT scores and future student performance in clinic. I doubt he even considers it when evaluating a candidate ...

It is kind of interesting to hear what admissions officers say about the PAT. at one school i interviewed at they said about half of the admissions committee thinks there is a correlation between PAT score and how good a dentist you will make and the other half think there is no correlation. Most of the people who think there is a correlation are the "older" people on the committee.

PAT 19, 4 interviews, 1 acceptance (so far)

I don't think you need to worry too much about a 17 in PAT 🙂

17 on the PAT, 10 interviews, 5 acceptances so far

18 on the PAT, 3 interviews, 3 acceptances

17 on the PAT, 10 interviews, 5 acceptances so far

nice work! i'll try not to worry then about it since i got a 17 on the PAT also. My AA was 18 and TS a 19. If I don't get in though it has to be b/c of that PAT score, otherwise I don't know what it could be. I have a 3.97 GPA and over 100 volunteer hours in a community dental clinic.

Doesn't seem like admissions really has a choice. The people who do "well" on the DAT overwhemlingly don't seem to have done well on PAT. Given a choice of AA or PAT, they'll take AA.

Even those students who get 24's and above AA seem to do no better than 20 on PAT (which is good but by no means killer). Those with high AA and high PAT are in the very rare minority, possibly even more rare than the 25AA's.

18 PAT here. I wouldnt worry about it. Even schools like Pacific who are big on PAT are still interviewing and accepting people with 17s.
