PAT TFE Question

I do not understand how they went about this question. Could someone please provide and helpful tips to do TFE in general? I have used the wicked PAT tutorial but it hasnt helped me all that much. Also, some strategies for finishing the PAT section in time. I end up with 5 problems left over in pattern folding just about every time.
